Graduate Fellowship Programs

For the 2024-2025 academic year, there will be one Graduate Writing Fellow (GWF) associated with the following academic programs:

• Counselor Education
• Criminal Justice
• History
• Psychology
• MPA Program
• Social Work
• Special Education
• TESOL Program

For the 2024-2025 academic year, there will be two Graduate Writing Fellows (GWFs) associated with the MSW program in the School of Social Work.

Requirements for Applying as a Graduate Writing Fellow:

• Be enrolled in at least six graduate credits each fall and spring semester
• Demonstrate strong writing skills
• Be knowledgeable of specific writing style guides (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)
• Be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities of Graduate Writing Fellow:

• Work 10 hours per week for a specific academic discipline
• Of the 10 hours, work two hours per week at the College of Graduate Studies with students from specific academic disciplines and other academic disciplines. This responsibility is a requirement for all GWFs. It is non-negotiable.
• Assist students with writing projects via face-to-face meetings, email, telephone calls, Skype/FaceTime
• Provide writing assistance, as relevant, to all students in a specific academic program through workshops, newsletters, writing tips, program Blackboard sites, classroom visits, etc.
• Present at least two GWF workshops each semester, either to specific program or university-wide
• Attend monthly training at workshops presented by the Director of the Graduate Writing Fellowship Program
• Attend the Graduate Fellowship Orientation in September
• Participate in the spring Student Arts and Research Symposium

Compensation:

• Tuition/Fees Reimbursement for six graduate credits each fall and spring semester
• Bi-weekly stipend
• Parking Pass

Requirements for Applying as a Graduate Quantitative Fellow:

• Be enrolled in at least six graduate credits each fall and spring semester
• Demonstrate strong knowledge in quantitative reasoning, basic mathematics skills, algebra, intermediate statistics as tools to answer research questions
• Be knowledgeable of specific computer platforms for quantitative/statistical analysis (SPSS, STATA, R, etc.)
• Be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities of Graduate Quantitative Fellow:

• Work 10 hours per week for the Master of Public Administration Program
• Of the 10 hours, work two hours per week at the College of Graduate Studies with students from the Master of Public Administration Program and other academic disciplines
• Report to the Graduate Coordinator and QuAC Coordinator
• Assist students with quantitative reasoning projects via face-to-face meetings, email, telephone calls, SKYPE/FaceTime
• Provide quantitative reasoning assistance, as relevant, to all students in specific academic programs through workshops, newsletters, quantitative reasoning tips, Blackboard, classroom visits
• Attend monthly training at workshops presented by the Director of the Graduate Writing/Quantitative Fellowship Program
• Attend the Graduate Fellowship Orientation in September
• Participate in the spring Student Arts and Research Symposium
• Participate in the spring Southeastern Massachusetts Quantitative Engagement and Literacy (SEQuEL) conference at BSU
• Become a member of the National Numeracy Network (dues will be paid on GQF’s behalf)
